What JOOK is

JOOK lets a host connect their Spotify account to run a party session. Guests join a room using a short code or QR code — no account or login required — and can suggest songs that get added to the host's Spotify queue.

Information we collect

• From the host: a Spotify access token and refresh token, obtained via Spotify's standard OAuth login, used only to control playback and create a playlist within that host's own Spotify account during their session.
• From guests: a display name you type in (not your real identity, not verified, not linked to any account) and the songs you add to the queue. Guests never authenticate with Spotify and JOOK never receives a guest's Spotify credentials.
• Session data: room codes, the list of songs queued and played during a session, and timestamps used to apply the per-guest queue cooldown.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or share your data with third parties.
• We don't use Spotify data for advertising.
• We don't store or rebroadcast any Spotify audio content.
• Guests aren't required to create an account, and we don't track guests across sessions.

How long we keep data

Session data (room, queue, song history) is tied to that party and is not actively used once the host ends the session. Spotify tokens are used only to keep the host's session working while it's active. If you'd like your data deleted sooner, contact us using the details below and we'll remove it.

Third-party services

JOOK uses the Spotify Web API to control playback and manage playlists on the host's behalf, and Supabase to store and sync session/queue data in real time. Your use of Spotify through JOOK is also subject to Spotify's own Privacy Policy.
